Lasik Procedure
Lasik procedure is a type of refractive laser eye surgery
that is used to correct certain eye problems. This treatment is useful
in correcting issues such as astigmatism, myopia, and hyperopia, or
commonly known as near and farsightedness and distorted vision. People
who suffer from these problems may be a candidate for laser treatment.
Lasik procedure is an outpatient surgery. This type of corrective surgery
only takes half an hour and is done while the patient is awake. Once
a complete eye exam has been conducted the surgeon will know what needs
to be done from a surgery point of view pertaining to the shape of the
eye and thickness of the cornea.
During a lasik procedure the surgeon uses a microkeratome to cut a
flap from the outer layer of the eyeball. The eye is then reshaped and
the flap replaced and secured. While the success stories far outweigh
the failures, one should conduct serious research before going under
the laser.
